In a city where there is always too much to do, simple comfort to be found in establishing routines, rituals and traditions. One such trip which has quickly become a tradition (but in no way a routine) is the series of visits made each summer to Frank's in Peckham.
It's a place where you know there'll never be a problem convincing a group of friends to make the journey South to fritter away an afternoon. The whole operation seems be much smoother this time around and not having lost any of the charm that comes with temporary events of this sort. The food looks great as ever and the drinks have also taken another step forward in terms of consistency and quality by being batched up and efficiently dosed out.
The surrounding area also seems to have had a bit of a lift and a set of like minded individuals have taken advantage of the boost in footfall, creating places which are fresh and unique. These cohorts have sought to utilise spaces as diverse as the patio of a pub and a former inn which has been restored to glory by being transformed into a pared back dining hall and bar.
If you've not been to Franks or Peckham Bazaar yet, i'd suggest planning a weekend trip soon, lest you discover that July 2014 is the next available date.
