'I recon this is the best cocktail menu we've ever done' says Tom Gibson owner of Ruby's and nearby Pearl's on Broadway Market.
Now that summer has finally decided to capitulate there's comfort to be found across the bar at one of Dalston's original cocktail bars, Ruby's.
About the new menu, I needn't say much more aside from go and try it for yourself. There's something here for all tastes and whilst they'll do all the classics for you, their Sazerac is one of the best i've had in that part of town. This small but perfectly formed basement bar is still as quirky as ever. Expect mismatched glassware and flamboyant garnishes, all part of the experience.
There's also rumors of the ground floor opening on random weekends, bringing the party to street level. When pressed about this Tom admits there's 'no plan or schedule', just pure spontaneity when the occasion (and weather) allows it.
There's a good vibe down that end of Dalston thanks to a few new offerings definitely worth checking out. Pelicans & Parrots is still going as strong as ever, Voodoo Rays are still cranking out pizza and beer and new ground floor opening High Water (FKA 23 Stoke Newington Road) is definitely worth a look in.
