Nestled just off Goldhawk Road in Shepherd's Bush lies the Market Yard, another intimate food spot from the successful team of Feast. Despite the West London location, we headed down last week to investigate the launch of the 6 week residency of Neapolitan pizza connoisseurs; Made of Dough.
In the quaint and cosy courtyard we sipped on a couple of lively blood orange sangrias, perching at rustic wooden tables waiting for the pizzas to arrive. With Made of Dough set to open their first bricks and mortar restaurant in Peckham this August, this was a great opportunity to sample what to expect from their upcoming first permanent South London venue. If it's anything like their stall at Pop Brixton, it's sure to be a hit.
Highlights from their compact but varied menu were their selection of fresh dips which prove as perfect accompaniments for the crusts...and their 2015 award winning Brindisa chorizo and piquillo pepper sourdough pizza. Absolutely delicious. Other options on the menu include one of the best margaritas you'll find in London - sheathed with succulent fior di latte (yep, that's mozzarella) and a rather punchy 'truffle oil with portobello' number. If you left enough room at the end of your meal then there's a dangerously chocolatey dessert available, also cleverly disguised as pizza. Top marks for innovation there.
The London pizza market may have exploded throughout over the last couple of years but this is definitely not one to be missed.
Make sure you head down there before 1st May.
